Welcome to the study of Organizational Behaviour. For the most part, this course examines the behaviour of people within an organizational context. Our principal perspective for this study will be the impact of micro and macro structures and processes on organizational effectiveness and quality of work life. The course begins with a description of the environment within which all organizations must operate, and the large scale structure that is the first response of the organization to its environment. These discussions inform the detailed examination of individual and group behaviour, and the related organizational processes that comprise the majority of this course. Through the introduction of concepts, theories and models, and your participation in the analysis of cases designed to illustrate this material, it is intended that you will attain a better understanding of the work environment in which most of us spend a large part of our lives.
